WEESDev Foundation Joins Forces with Eco Balance Cameroon and Local Supporters to Combat Climate Change in Ndongo Community

In a significant step towards environmental conservation, the WEESDev Foundation has received a generous donation of 20 tree nurseries, including Tally, Sandbox, Monodora myristica, and more, from the non-profit organization Eco-Balance. Additionally, over 100 tree nurseries have been contributed by Friends of the Limbe Gardens and FOREP. This collaborative effort aims to address the pressing issue of climate change, particularly evident in the Fako region where heavy and unexpected rainfall has led to severe floods, affecting communities such as Ndongo.

Today, on the 8th of December 2023, these trees are set to be planted in the GS Ndongo community as a strategic measure for flood control. The Ndongo community has been particularly hard-hit by the recent calamity, and the planting of these trees is a commendable initiative to mitigate the impact of flooding. Trees play a crucial role in reducing flooding by slowing down rainwater, absorbing excess water, and preventing erosion.

To further amplify the impact of this initiative, WEESDev Foundation is targeting the active participation of women and girls in a comprehensive sensitization program that includes climate literacy and tree-planting exercises. This approach not only addresses the environmental challenges but also promotes a sense of justice by empowering and involving the community members most affected by the changing climate.

Stay tuned as WEESDev Foundation continues its mission to create a sustainable and resilient future for communities grappling with the adverse effects of climate change.
